Introduction:

The Alvear Family in 718 AD

Alvear is a very old family name traced to the year 718 in the North of Spain. They are Goth from a III century German village. The Goth was one of the first villages converting to Christianity. The Alvear family is a very old military family (Knights) that helped fight against the Muslims during the Spanish invasion that lasted over 700 years. They helped crown King Don Pelayo and defended Christianity. Muslims were never able to conquer the North of Spain thanks in part to the geography, but mostly due to the courageous spirit of families and individuals like the ALVEAR's. For the services rendered, the kings offered them lands and a coat of arms. The coat of arms consists of a bridge, a tower, a tree with a hunting dog, and 3 royal flowers of gold lily.

Uncle
(He is the grandson of my dad's grandfather. His mother and my dad's mother were sisters. We use to have lunch in his house every Sunday in Mexico City in the 70's and 80's.)

Jose Maria Basagoiti Noriega

Former President of the Mexican Chamber of Commerce, COPARMEX
Rector of Basque studies at the University of Nevada,
He inherited CIGATAM (Tabacalera Mexicana: the producer of all major tobacco brands in Mexico) from my Great Gran Father, etc.

I found an interesting book talking about him (1). He lead entrepreneurs in Mexico against the pseudo-communist dictatorship of the Mexican administration. He is a Jesuit. The PRI (ruling political party for over 70 years) wanted him dead. He had a lot of "cojones," if you know what I mean. He writes about those dangerous year in which we lived in danger(1)

I have other family that is also relevant on my mother's side. My mother's family is Fuentes and Quinard. My uncles also made several millions of dollars in their business. For we all are pilgrims and immigrants in a foreign land. We have become citizens and nationals of Heaven through our baptism. We are sons of God. By Eduardo Alvear, Catholic. Please note that Jesus Christ got crucified by the Jews and Pilate for making this claim. He was accused of subversion.

"Jesus is the lodestar of human freedom: without him, freedom loses its focus, for without the knowledge of truth, freedom becomes debased, alienated and reduced to empty caprice. With him, freedom finds itself." Benedict XVI, Address to Participants in the Plenary Assembly of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (10 February 2006): AAS 98 (2006), 255.
