CLERGY/RELIGIOUS
APPRECIATION LUNCHEON
MAY 15TH
The Merced CP&BC
will hold its annual clergy and religious appreciation
luncheon on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at noon in Merced at St.
Patrick’s Parish Hall, 671 E. Yosemite Avenue. We had an
amazing turnout last year and hope to repeat that success or
even exceed it this year. We are blessed to have such
dedicated priests, deacons, and religious sisters serving
the people of God in the parishes of the Merced deanery.
They will be our guests that day. Plan to reserve a table
for your parish organization or bring a couple of fellow
parishioners and celebrate with us. Luncheon tickets are
$15.00 each. Call Raylene Smith at 723-4929 by May 10th to
make reservations.
May 15th is also
the day when we begin our 10th anniversary celebration. We
anticipate having a display representing each parish in our
deanery. These foam boards were distributed to each pastor
at the December 2007 deanery luncheon. Hopefully, each
priest has selected someone from their parish to creatively
highlight the history of the parish as well as the
ministries served by the parish. We would like to have them
by the first week in May so we can prepare the display. If
you need us to pick up your completed foam board or need
another one please contact Brenda Feehan at

PAT OGLE – FEBRUARY
LUNCHEON SPEAKER
Calling all sports fans! Plan to join us for lunch on
Thursday, February 21st at the New Bethany Residential Care
Home at 1441 Berkeley Drive in Los Banos. Our guest speaker
will be Pat Ogle, Executive Director of the Bulldog
Foundation Annual Fund for Fresno State.
Pat has been the Executive Director of the Bulldog
Foundation’s (BDF) Annual Fund since January 1982. He
directs a fund drive that has grown in donations from
$600,000 in 1982 to now over $4 million. With membership
ticket benefits included, the BDF now administers annual
memberships of $7.9 million. Since 1986, the BDF annual fund
has been the number-one fund raising operation in the United
States exclusively utilizing volunteers. The year 2000
marked the 50th anniversary of BDF incorporated, and in the
same year the organization was awarded a Central California
Excellence in Business Award for all non-profits.
The National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD)
in 2007 recognized Ogle with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Fresno State recognized Ogle in 2006 as Top Gun alum from
the College of Arts and Humanities. NAADD named Ogle Fund
Raiser of the Year in 1986, the same year in which he was
inducted into the College of Sequoia- Visalia Hall of Fame.
He was NAADD Charter President in 1993. He was Co-Founder
and Director of the National Athletic Fund Raisers Workshop
from 1990 to 1993. The California Valley Chapter of the
National Society of Fund Raising Executives recognized him
as Executive of the Year in 1990. In 1989 the National
Conference of Athletic Fund Raisers named him Fund Raiser of
the Year.
After graduating from Fresno State in 1965, Ogle was in
television broadcasting for 17 years. Ogle has been husband
to Kathy for 41 years, father to three children
(Christopher, Michele, and Megan), and grandfather to five
(Miles, Myla, Camron, Katrina and Nathaniel).
Don’t worry, Pat will not be fund raising at our luncheon
meeting! Instead, he will share the way his faith life has
impacted his professional and personal life. He will talk
about his faith journey and the many ways God has worked in
his life.
The delicious luncheon will be catered by Fernando’s Bistro
and tickets for the event are $15.00 each. Reservations
should be made by February 18th by calling Raylene Smith at
723-4929.
